Emotional problems and health issues?

If you are experiencing difficulties of a personal nature (e.g., depression, stress, difficulty juggling responsibilities, test anxiety, drug use, chronic illness), please take full advantage of the counseling and medical resources offered through The Counseling Center (953-5640), located on the third floor of the Robert Scott Small Building (the "old” library).  If you are not sure whether you need these services, you may want to check out their Scope of Care.

The Counseling Center offers counseling for a variety of situations:  individual, couple, family and relationship concerns; assessment and treatment for alcohol and substance abuse problems; testing for possible learning problems; and more.  You can schedule an appointment in person during business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday, or by calling 953-5640. Emergency services are available. Students can also speak with a team member from Students 4 Support by calling 953-5640 Monday - Thursday, 4-9 PM.

If you have recently been the victim of a crime, you should realize that your worries and anxieties and anger may not stop with the crime itself.  The College’s Office of Victim Services (OVS) program is there to advocate for you in such situations as acquaintance, date, or stranger rape, aggravated assault, robbery, misdemeanor or felony arrest, car jacking, harassment/stalking, relationship or domestic violence, identity theft, and so on.  The program’s comprehensive assistance services are available to any currently enrolled student, and it doesn’t matter whether the crime occurs on- or off-campus or whether you elect to file an official police report.

Do you know a student who seems overwhelmed by personal, financial, academic, or emotional issues?  If you are a student or a faculty member who has concerns about a student, the College's FAST system can help.  FAST is an on-campus referral system, and FAST referrals will not violate student privacy rights.  This FAQ page provides more information about how and when to use FAST, as well as how the referral system works.

Student Health Services provides a variety of confidential diagnostic and treatment services to students, many of them free of charge.  For a listing of the types of services offered, check the Services link on Student Health Services home page.  Note that Student Health Services also provides a wealth of information about immunizations, sexually-transmitted diseases, insurance fees, and so on.

Don’t suffer quietly!  You are a member of the campus family, and we want you to have access to the best academic, social, emotional, and physical services available.  Don’t hesitate for a moment -- take advantage of these confidential, supportive, and very helpful resources.
